She also holds private consultations at her personal studio on Bloor Street West by appointment only. Your piece of jewellery is guaranteed against any major manufacturing defects but is not guaranteed for the normal wear and tear life brings. Jewellery is delicate and needs to be cared for properly. Although Jilian is always happy to clean and check your precious pieces, we recommend that you do the same at home regularly. Soak your jewellery in a warm water bath for about 15 minutes. Make a paste with a drop of dish soap and a little baking soda and gently scrub the piece, inside and out, using a soft toothbrush. This will bring it back to its original sparkle and give you a clearer sense if anything needs a professional touch. Jilian will replace melee diamonds (2mm and under) within 6 months of purchase at no charge. Centre stones, however, are not covered. Please make sure you have your piece added to your home insurance policy in case of major damage, loss or theft. Jilian does not offer repairs on jewellery she hasn't made herself however Made You Look has an incredible team of repair specialists, goldsmiths and setters in-house. They are always happy to take wonderful care of your special pieces. 

A full appraisal and certificate is included for pieces over $1000CAD. You will need to send in a copy of the appraisal to have your special piece of jewellery added to your insurance plan for coverage. 

The first sizing is always complimentary, on-the-house! If you are a local Torontonian and can make it into the studio, Jilian is happy to help with an in-person finger sizing. If you are out of town and can’t make it in, we recommend ordering a ring sizer online so you can size yourself at home or go into your local jewellery store to have a professional help you. Things to be sure of when being sized: the ring should be a little bit of a push going over the knuckle, move around freely while on and be a pretty decent twist and tug coming off.  Please note: wider bands are going to feel tighter than narrower bands. 

Amazing! Once you've chosen your setting style, browse our available gemstones and select your centre stone. Gemstone shape and carat weight recommendations are listed for each setting style however if you need more guidance get in touch and we'll be happy to chat through!

Most designs will be able to hold a gemstone between 1-2 carats however 2.5-3ct+ is possible in some styles. Get in touch and we can advise further if you're unsure!

Unfortunately no. Although work on your ring does not start until Jilian confirms your order after purchase, the gemstone market is very fast-paced and gemstones ship out from our suppliers straightaway. For this reason we cannot refund a Fave order as costs are already incurred. We are happy to discuss transferring the total balance paid to a different gemstone or setting of your choosing instead. Please note if this happens, you are responsible for paying tax on your new gemstone. If you're unsure in any way - please get in touch BEFORE purchasing a Fave so we can make sure everyone is happy :)

Shortly after you make your purchase, your gem starts its journey from our gemstone Partners Misfit Gems in Vancouver to Jilian's studio in downtown Toronto. Jilian will inspect your gem upon receipt and contact you to confirm and ask any clarifying questions before starting work on your piece. The process from order to shipment can take approx. 8-10 weeks. You will be notified via email once your ring is shipped or ready for pick up. Shipping or pick up options are available at check out.

Jilian's Fave ring styles are designed to make the process of finding your dream engagement ring easy, simple and affordable when ordered as is pictured. However, we understand that sometimes clients want to add their own twist to the design! If you like a style but want to tweak something small get in touch via our contact form and Jilian can advise what is possible and give you a new quote. Please note depending on the changes requested e.g. additional accent stones, engravings, prongs etc. there may be an increase in the price of your setting to accommodate additional gold, gems and labour. For bigger changes, we recommend commissioning Jilian for a custom piece instead.

Our Fave styles are all made to order. While you may find some styles at the Made You Look Jewellery studio in Toronto, Jilian is an independent jewellery designer and cannot carry stock of each ring, in every size, all the time in comparison to bigger retail stores. Maybe one day! :) Working with a small independent jewellery designer, like any artist, requires trust in the skill and craftmanship of the maker often without seeing the piece until the finished product. Our past clients tell us that is part of the magic of choosing an independent designer and we tend to agree! We hope you'll understand and start your story with us!

Custom projects begin at $5,000 CAD. Depending on the piece you are looking to create, please keep in mind that your budget will need to cover the cost of gemstones, metal and Jilian's design and labour.

Payment for custom projects will often consist of a series of smaller deposits. After our free Consultation, you will recieve an approximate quote for the work discussed. Jilian take a deposit of 50% of the quoted total cost to start your project (plus a $300 deposit if stone sourcing is required). This ensures that you are committed to the entire custom process. Deposits are not refundable and will come off the final balance owed once the piece is complete.

Jilian is happy to source a gemstone for you from one of her trusted suppliers. Depending on your requirements, gemstone sourcing can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months so keep this in mind for your timeline. A $300 sourcing deposit is required to get started.

Jilian is happy to discuss working with your heirloom gems and metal to bring new life to your sentimental pieces. There are many considerations when working with preloved materials so Jilian must see things in person before officially committing to the project. We take incredible care of every piece in our possession and will advise you of any structural concerns before moving forward. Jilian is not responsible for any damage to stones when being removed from existing settings or in the resetting process. Please submit a custom enquiry so Jilian can arrange an inspection of your pieces and go from there!

Returns, credits and exchanges are not possible for custom pieces. Jilian will always go above and beyond to make sure you’re thrilled with your custom experience and the finished piece. 

All shipments within Canada are complimentary. Items under $500CAD will be shipped via Canada Xpress Post and will typically take 2-4 business days depending on your location. We will provide you with a tracking number and a signature will be required for delivery. For items above $500CAD we will use Fedex Overnight Xpress with tracking number and required signature for maximum insurance coverage. 

Rates start at $85CAD for over-the-border shipments and, depending on the value of the piece and the destination, it can go up to $150CAD. FedEx Overnight Xpress is the best for speediness and insurance coverage. Signature will be required upon delivery. *Please note:When shipping across borders, things can get caught up in customs for an extra day or two so it’s a good idea to plan in advance for critical timeline purchases. International purchases are also subject to import duties, taxes and charges that aren’t included in the price of each piece or the shipping fees and are the client’s responsibility. To get an approximate quote of what these costs could be in your country you can use an online duty calculator. These charges are typically collected by the shipping company upon delivery.  

You can return a piece of jewellery if it was purchased from the ready-to-ship inventory and if it has not been worn or sized to fit. As soon as something has been altered it is not returnable. Any shipping associated with a return is the client's responsibility. *Please note: Returns, credits and exchanges are not possible for custom pieces.
