Designing a Custom Engagement ring, Wedding band or other piece of jewellery is a unique experience ideal for fellow artists, dreamers and those with a specific vision in mind.
Lead by Jilian's artistic expertise, your journey begins with a free consultation online or in person, to share your story, inspiration and dreams for your piece.
What follows is approximately 8-12 weeks of magic & creation, resulting in the jewellery you've always dreamed of...
The process

Choose from our available collection of Diamonds & Sapphires or ask Jilian to source a stone for you.
Design
Jilian whips up some drawings in her sketchbook to ensure you're headed in the right direction together.
Model
You're then given a physical model or photos + videos of your design for review, depending on your location.
Setting
Once the design is approved, your piece will be cast locally, polished by hand and set, ready for you to bring home.
Mike & Rob's story
Mike & Rob are close friends of the JMJ family.
They were looking for an everyday statement piece but also wanted to rest easy knowing that the stone would be housed in a simple and safe, signet-style setting to accommodate their active lives. We met in the studio, mapped out the finger size and established that the dream stone had some unusual, elongated proportions which led us to deciding on a custom cut.
We had the stone-cutters search high and low for the perfect rough that would yield the 15mm length while maintaining the colour and clarity for maximum impact. The stone spans the client's finger beautifully and got a giant YES for the proposal!

Akira's story
Jilian was honored to craft this custom signet ring for fellow Toronto-based Goldsmith Akira. It's design is is as unique as it is striking, drawing inspiration from Akira's Japanese roots.
This 14kt gold ring features a hand-carved traditional Japanese Crane, sandwiched between a custom portrait cut sapphire and a slab of Onyx to create powerful contrast.

Custom projects begin at $5,000 CAD. Depending on the piece you are looking to create, please keep in mind that your budget will need to cover the cost of gemstones, metal and Jilian's design and labour.

Payment for custom projects will often consist of a series of smaller deposits. After our free Consultation, you will recieve an approximate quote for the work discussed. Jilian take a deposit of 50% of the quoted total cost to start your project (plus a $300 deposit if stone sourcing is required). This ensures that you are committed to the entire custom process. Deposits are not refundable and will come off the final balance owed once the piece is complete.

There are many considerations when working with preloved materials so Jilian must see things in person before officially committing to the project. We take incredible care of every piece in our possession and will advise you of any structural concerns before moving forward. Jilian is not responsible for any damage to stones when being removed from existing settings or in the resetting process. Please submit a custom enquiry so Jilian can arrange an inspection of your pieces and go from there!
