Meet Jilian Maddin
It started with a leap of faith and a move to the eclectic streets of Queen West, Toronto in 2002.
About
"I grew up in Winnipeg with two artist parents and so it felt natural when I started out studying Environmental Design and Architecture at OCAD University. I loved to be hands-on.
During my studies, I moved in with a friend in the jewellery design program. She had just bought a space that most jewellery lovers in Toronto will be aware of - Made You Look in Queen Street West. As we spent time together - me creating architecture models and her creating jewellery, she taught me some intermediate jewellery skills and I began making pieces that became popular really quickly. I felt like I'd unlocked an exciting new future as I finished my architecture program, started the goldsmithing program, and never looked back.
Since then I’ve had two daughters, built a business I love and designed countless pieces for amazing clients.
I now have my own private studio, however you can still find my pieces at the original Made You Look studio, where I get to work shoulder-to-shoulder with my best friend."

"The stone is always the starting inspiration for me.
I find a stone I love and let the lines, the colors, and the cut inspire the design."

"I look to Mother Nature often,
whether that's to inspire a ring with hidden bird details, avian motifs or engravings to add visual interest and texture"
"I love solid statement pieces that I can live my life in every day. Pieces that feel empowering and substantial to the wearer"
